#lazysunday what to do...
After a morning of cleaning the house and organizing every bit of "my life" which to my amusement took more than five hours, ten boxes and dozens of shoes later, I finally was able to sit on my fluffy, creme-colored just-made bed and simply do what I've missed most: read a book. The joys of cracking open a good book and let one's imagination run wild -- haven't done this for fun in what seems like years....
Which book did I devour this afternoon, you might ask? Well, two years ago I gave up on this book after merely thumbing through its pages and barely glancing at the first two sentences. I dubbed it "boring" and tossed it into the back of my bookcase. This afternoon, I rediscovered this gem, all dusty and waiting to be read:
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
The tale of a young Cornell student who drops out of school due to a difficult family situation and joins the circus in hopes for an escape - Wow... it was breathtaking. I couldn't put it down, not for one second. You could feel the passion, the love and tension between the characters, Jacob and Marlena -- through the vivid imagery and Jacob's memories. It is no wonder that "Water for Elephants" was a New York Times Best-Seller.

This past year, Gruen's novel became a major motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. Haven't seen this film yet, but plan on doing so now after reading the book.

Hopefully, the film will do it justice, for I loved the book.

Here's the trailer for viewing:
