International Badge Day 2013 | Alpha Delta Pi

Monday, March 4, 2013

Today, I'm celebrating International Badge Day. Established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference, it is a day set aside for women to wear their beautiful sorority badge or Greek letters in celebration of sisterhood.

Being part of a sorority was a huge part of my collegiate experience, and even today, it is an important aspect of my adulthood as I'm still very close to my sisters and have made lifelong friends.

Summer 2011 as an Executive Office Intern at Headquarters - Atlanta, GA
On this day, I pay tribute to the white and blue - the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi. Thank you for making me into the leader I am today - for the memories, the support and most importantly, for instilling the passion I have for our ritual and traditions. Here's to you Alpha Theta, my beloved chapter, for giving me the best four years of my life at UW!

Proud to be part of the FIRST. FINEST. FOREVER.

first.

Founded in 1851, Alpha Delta Pi was the first sorority. I am more than proud to be a part of an organization whose rituals, history and tradition has created a legacy of smart and talented leaders for more than 160 years. Even more so, I am honored to be part of an organization that was at the forefront of the anti-hazing movement in fraternal organizations. ADPi, thank you for teaching that our sorority is more than a ritual... that it is a way of life.

finest.

Living with the best of friends I could ever find at the Alpha Theta chapter, my collegiate experience will be forever in debt to the strong sisterhood and endless laughter I found in that house on the corner of 18th/47th. Those women are my sisters... my best friends... and some day, my bridesmaids. They are the finest of Greek Row I'd say; for it was their intellectual curiosity, compassion for others and kindred spirit that made me fall in love from bid day and to the very last ritual during my senior year. Hail to the blue and white, sweet sisters -- violets to you!

forever.

ADPi isn't just four years... it's for life. One of the many things I love about ADPi, is that the three stages of membership are broken up into the following:

  • Alpha - new member
  • Delta - active, collegian
  • Pi - alumna
Pi is forever... so even though some of us have graduated, the sorority remains with us when we become Pi members. ADPi's rituals, sisterhood and traditions - are forever embedded on our hearts as Mother Fitzgerald looks upon us to help collegians continue her legacy.

Happy International Badge Day, Panhellenic sisters!

For those of you wearing your badge or letters today, how do you live your sorority's ritual every day?

  1. Happy international badge day! I actually got goosebumps when I read this part, "my collegiate experience will be forever in debt to the strong sisterhood and endless laughter I found in that house on the corner of 18th/47th" because that's exactly how I feel about my collegiate sorority experience. I love that there are so many women with wonderfully strong memories of Greek life!
