outdoor adventures :: victoria, british columbia

Two weekends ago, I ventured across the border to Victoria, Canada via the Clipper Vacations with my main squeeze to spend some quality time with his family. Channeling our inner Annie Oakley, we drove an extra hour and half outside of the city to a small town, Sooke Harbor for the weekend. Similar to last year, we also visited Port Renfrew where my main squeeze's uncle holds an annual Father's Day Fishing Derby. It was great to catch up with his family, spend some quality time outdoors and of course, enjoy fresh caught Chinook salmon.

Also, there's something to be said about the calming waters up there. It's absolutely stunning to be up there and a great feeling to completely un-plug from everything. Up near Sooke Harbor, we stumbled upon seals, deer, eagles and even... bears!

Look how cute and fuzzy he is!
Aside from the fishing and nature sightings, my main squeeze's mom and I took some to relax and refresh with hot stone massages at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort. It was a much-needed spa date, and was perfect for loosening up tight muscles from a recent Crossfit WOD.

On our last day, we wrapped up the family vacation with kayaking and a quick city visit in downtown Victoria. We explored the cute little city and walked all around - from Chinatown to the Empress Hotel. Munched on the cutest macarones from Murchies and devoured an amazing veggie-friendly lunch at Rebar. I'm absolutely obsessed with Rebar - it has the best juice menu, I've ever seen. With more than 10 different juice combinations, I was in heaven.. and each freshly squeezed and pressed to order. Needless to say, that's a definite must-visit on our next Victoria trip.

It was a short but relaxing vacation- much-needed and well-spent with great folks. So thankful for moments like those!

Hobie Kayaking: So much fun!
